Police appeal for information after shot fired at car

Police have appealed for information after a car was damaged at The Entrance overnight.

Just after 3am today (Wednesday 7 December 2016), it is believed that a shot was fired at a silver Mitsubishi Lancer in Tuggerah Parade.

Police have been told the vehicle was parked there about 11pm on Tuesday 6 December by a female who walked off in the direction of Manning Parade.

The woman is described as being in her late 20s with long blonde hair and wearing dark jeans.

About 11.40pm a vehicle described as a silver hatch drove past the Lancer and two loud bangs were heard by residents.

The Lancer sustained damage to the windscreen and driver’s side window.

The silver hatch reportedly returned about midnight and a noise believed to be a gunshot was heard.

A hole was subsequently located in the driver’s side of the Lancer’s near the petrol cap, which appears to be a gun shot.

The Lancer has been seized by officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command and will be forensically examined.

Police who are conducting a search and canvass of the area have appealed for anyone with information about the incidents or the identity of the woman who parked the car to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1 800 333 000.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/ Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
